1. Introducing ASUSTOR Share Links

Share Links in ADM allow you to share files with people who don't have accounts on your ASUSTOR NAS. Not only can data be shared with others for downloading, but new share links can be set to allow the uploading of files from friends, family and clients to share files to your NAS. An account is not required and share links remain restricted only to where you allow uploads to be placed. Use share links on ADM 4.2 to conveniently share files from and to your ASUSTOR NAS.

Note: Only system administrators can create Share Links for uploading.

2. Creating a Share Link

Before creating a Share Link in ADM File Explorer, it is recommended, but not mandatory to enable EZ-Connect to make Share Links easier to share. To enable EZ-Connect, click here. Enabling EZ-Connect creates a Share Link using ezconnect.to that automatically determines the correct connection in different network environments.

When using the cloudid.ezconnect.to URL, the EZ-Connect server will determine the client's network environment and forward the connection.

For example:

  • If the client is on the same local network, the LAN IP connection will be forwarded directly.
  • If the client requires a remote connection, but DDNS is not enabled on the NAS, it will be redirected to a WAN IP connection that allows the connection.
  • If the NAS has enabled HTTPS and DDNS, it will redirect to a myasustor.com or other DDNS address.

If you want to use a Share Link to allow remote connections to share or upload high-capacity files, refer this documentation to enable HTTPS and DDNS as well as apply for an HTTPS certificate. The EZ-Connect server will perform URL redirection when connecting.
