Q: Remove/Create Volume1

2024-12-03

Here are some scenarios in which you might need to remove the current Volume1 and create it again:
1. The volume contains filesystem errors and cannot be repaired.
2. You want to add HDDs to the current volume, but the RAID level doesn't support online RAID level migration or capacity expansion.
3.
You are trying to migrate the current Volume1 from the M.2 SSD to the SATA HDD.

In the above cases, you might consider keeping the current ADM settings and removing/creating the current volume. You can do this on the ADM-Storage Manager-Volume page.

Please note that the volume data will be erased and the HDD will be formatted if you remove the volume in Storage Manager, so make sure the data is backed up before proceeding further.

For example, if the current Volume1 is in Single mode and you want to add another HDD to make it a RAID0 volume, here are the steps to remove the current single mode volume and create it in RAID0 for reference:

  1. In Storage Manager, select Volume1 and click “Remove”.

  1. A pop-up window showing the warning message will appear; click “Next”.

  1. It will ask you to pre-configure the new Volume1 before the current one is removed. Select the desired options and click “Next”. Once all the configurations are set, click “Finish”.

It will ask for the administrator account password for confirmation. Input the password for the current login account and click “OK”.

  1. It will start to delete Volume1. Once the progress bar reaches 100%, click “OK”, and the new Volume1 will be created.
