Q: How to obtain the IP address of the NAS?

2024-12-17

If the NAS is connecting to the local network router DHCP service, it will be assigned a local IP address.

This IP address can be found in the following places.

1. If the NAS has an LCD front panel, it will display the NAS’s IP address.

2. Use ASUSTOR utilities such as ASUSTOR Control Center(ACC) on the computer or AiMaster mobile device app to scan and list the NAS IP information.

*The utility's scanning and listing method can only work when the PC or mobile device and the NAS are connected to the same network. Please ensure that the PC and the NAS are connected to the same router device using LAN cables. Alternatively, make sure that the mobile device is connected to the Wi-Fi SSID provided by the router device to which the NAS is connected.

3. Go to NAS’s uplink network device configuration page and check the DHCP client list to find IP address assigned to NAS’s LAN port MAC address.

If the NAS is connected directly to the PC via a LAN cable or to a network environment without a DHCP service, it will use the default static IP address. The default static IP for the LAN1 port is 169.254.1.2, for LAN2 it is 169.254.1.3, for LAN3 it is 169.254.1.4, and so on.

If the NAS has been moved from a different network, it might still be using the old IP address from the previous network environment. To resolve this, use a paperclip to press the reset button on the back of the unit until it makes a beep sound. This will reset the NAS's network configuration and allow it to obtain a new local network IP address from the DHCP server.

Note: Resetting the button will not affect the data in the volume. However, it will enable the default administrator account “admin” and set its password to “admin” (both the account and password will be “admin”).
