Q: Why is there a red light on my NAS unit?

2024-11-07

The red light on the front panel usually indicates one of the following scenarios:

  1. HDD Error Causing the Volume RAID in Degraded Mode
You will see the system status LED (the one with the cylinder symbol) flashing in red and green. In this case, you will normally also see the disk tray LED turn red to indicate the position of the failed disk.

You can go to ADM-Storage Manager-Volume to check the current volume status.

  1. NAS Hardware Error
You will see the power button LED or the system status LED turned red.

You can go to ADM-System Information-Log to check the event.

  1. NAS S3 Sleep Mode or LED Night Mode
You will see the power LED in an orange color (not exactly red). In the system S3 sleep mode, the power LED will be in a solid orange status. In the LED night mode, the power LED will be orange and flash every 10 seconds.

You can go to ADM-Settings-Hardware-System/Energy Control to configure the above items.
